Headlights write-up

Here's an article I have in this week's Reader, on the Champaign, Illinois band Headlights.

I'm in Columbus, Nebraska at the moment, writing from a Sleep Inn. I'm here for a film/video competition that two of my students are competing in, and it's been going really well. The only downside is that I have to miss the Honeybee/Evangelicals/Headlights and Jens Lekman shows tonight. The upside is that I've had two A&W root beer floats from here, and they were really good.

Below is a photo from the Darren Kean show on Wednesday night.

Hi there, Lindsay, and greetings from Providence, RI--
Just checking out blogs this evening while listening to Panda Bear's "Person Pitch" which I love but which means that I can't listen to the M. Ward+Zooey D. song you've got posted. I've already got tremendous mid-western envy but your post on the M. Ward/Jim James pre-Obama show just pushed me over the edge. Here in RI we couldn't even vote for the guy, let alone put a great show together before a speech. Oh well...

Let me know how Columbus Nebraska is. Never been there...probably for good reasons.

Hi John from Providence! I suggest checking out the She & Him album sometime when you're not listening to Panda Bear (though that combo could be interesting). I've been playing it often this past week or so and I'm not sick of it, which is a good sign.

I checked out your blog out of curiosity and enjoyed reading it - especially your post on 4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days. I saw it recently and loved it and had planned to write a somewhat lengthy post about it and then just got lazy, but you had some interesting insights.

I've never been to Providence, but I imagine it to be beautiful and relaxing, with white rock cliffs and straw hats. Basically I picture it like the Hamptons or some other East Coast cape, but that may show my lack of geography knowledge and ignorance. I guess the grass is always greener on the other side, or whatever. Though the Midwest is pretty cool.
